Heatsinks are metallic parts that release energy in the form of heat, to prevent technology such as mobile phones, refrigerators or computers from getting too hot. The kit contains ten silicone rubber insulating heatsink washers for mounting power semiconductors, which eliminate the need for a messy heat sink compound. There is also a Tgard??500 medium, thermal-performance insulator pad consisting of electrical-grade fibreglass, coated with ceramic-filled, high-temperature silicone rubber. Providing extra thickness, this mat prevents electrical shorts and debris from aluminium castings. The kit can be used in applications requiring an interface of 2.5 ºC/watt or higher on a TO-220 transistor mounted at 50 psi pressure.
