The adapter comes with a latching, 20-pin male DisplayPort connector and an SVGA connector. SVGA is an analogue signal thats gradually being superseded by digital cables such as DisplayPort and HDMI, so this assembly can be used to prolong the working life of legacy monitors. Due to SVGAs limitations, the cable does not carry audio. The plug and play cable will work as soon as its connected. It supports resolutions up to 1080p at 24bpp (bits per pixel), 50/60 Hz at a maximum cable length of 15 metres as well as video bandwidth up to 10.8 Gbps (Gigabytes per second). It also supports greater than QXGA (2048 x 1535) resolutions at 24-bit colour depths.
