The post works with 4 mm unshrouded plugs, which can be inserted in the top (castellated) hole, or in the cross hole at the side of the post when its in the open position. The terminal post is insulated, with a reinforced nylon body, and applies outward force to an unsprung cylindrical jack through a metal spring. When using the cross hole, you can fix a safety bung into the castellated top, which will fit flush and prevent probes and plugs from inserting and making unwanted electrical connections.
