When a crimping tool is used on a terminal up to two crimps can take place at the same time. One is the electrical connection between conductor and terminal. This hand tool consists of two handles, a ratchet mechanism, a locator for accurate positioning of the terminal and a die assembly containing 3 crimping cavities. Ratchet Mechanism. The ratchet is pre-set to a specific force and remains locked until the handles of the tool are fully closed and the dies are bottomed. The handles cannot be opened until a full crimping cycle is achieved therefore preventing partial crimps. Once the cycle is complete the handles re-open. The ratchet also enables the operator to repeatedly produce consistent, high-quality crimps. Adjustable Handle Force. This hand crimping tool features a cam that is used to adjust the handle load force. The cam locking screw is removed using a screwdriver and the cam is simply turned clockwise to increase the handle force or anti clockwise to decrease the handle force.
