The DIN 72 style panel meter comprises permanent magnet moving coil movements and indicates an average value. The moving coil movement consists of a magnet, an aluminium coil suspended on pivots, a hairspring, and a jewel mechanism. The scales are linear and calibrated down to zero. High currents are measured with separate shunts attached on the rear side of the meter.
